New PvP Mounts

Find out all about the New PvP Mounts for Battlegrounds

If you are able to battleground enough to save up 2,000 points then you will have enough honor to purchase one of these new mounts. They are the same speed as Level 40 Epic Mounts and require a riding skill of a journeyman in order to ride. These can be purchased in the Champions Hall in Stormwind for the Alliance or the Hall of Legends in Orgrimmar.

There are five reward mount choices that represent the available races of each faction’s side. The best thing about these mounts is that they are not dependent of the cities reputation so you can get other races mounts. For example, if you are a human with adequate Marks of Honor you can decide to ride a Reins of the Black War Tiger no matter what your reputation is with Darnassus. Another example - If you are a Forsaken with adequate Marks of Honor you can ride a Horn of the Black War Wolf if you like no matter what our reputation is with Orgrimmar.

In Patch 2.4 hawkstriders and elekks were added. In the past there had been no PvP mounts representing the blood elves and the draenei. If your get one of these two new mounts the elekk or hawkstriders then you will earn the achievement call in the cavalry.

Some World of Warcraft players refer to the PvP mounts as “welfare mounts,” or “welfare epics,” because they are basically free. The marks of honor you need to purchase a mount are obtained by being in a battleground match no matter whether you are victorious or defeated.

Other PvP mounts are rewarded when you turn in a specific amount of tokens to a specific vendor. You get even more additional tokens by controlling certain zones and by killing other players.

You earn PvP mounts through player vs. player game play. You can also by honor mounts with honor points. The Wintergrasp and Halaa mounts require you to use tokens to purchase, and the Arena mounts can only be earned if you are extremely good at the 3 or 5 person Arena team competitions. The following are mounts you can earn.

In patch 4.2, Rage of the Firelands, if you want to sit your derriere on these new rides you will have to earn achievements for winning either 75, 150, or 300 Rated Battlegrounds.

One account bound mount is awarded for every achievement earned, so if you win 300 Rated Battlegrounds with a character, you’ll be given the opportunity to give that character and two of your alts each a wolf or steed.

Because the mounts are tied to each achievement and not to your placement on the competitive ladder, they are instantly awarded rather than having to wait until the end of each season as you do with Arena mounts.

For those of you who storm the front lines, and keep your teammates alive good luck obtaining awards that suit your bravery!
